Facebook allows you to download a copy of the data you created on it since you 'Signed Up' to it. The backup data archive includes your information from your About page (Your hometown, Birthday, family members, Education, job history, relationship status, political and religious views, favourite quotes, family members and languages), phone numbers, people you have added and removed as friends, followers, sent, received and pending friend requests, posts you created, posts shared on your wall by others, photos and videos you uploaded to your wall, photo metadata, chat history, event history, groups you belong to, apps, check-in history, poke history, notification preferences, privacy settings, hidden pages, ads you have clicked on, dates when your account was deactivated or reactivated, email IDs added and removed, and IP addresses that were recorded when you logged in or out of Facebook. 

There are few quick, straight forward and easy steps to do backup your Facebook data :-
  • Go to Facebook and Log In.
  • Click on down arrow button on the top right corner of the menu bar.
  • In the drop-down Menu click on "Settings" button.
  • A new page will open.
  • On the new page, under the General account settings click on "Download a copy" link.
  • On the next Page click on "Start My Archive".
  • Reenter your password and click on "Submit" button.
  • Click on "Start My Archive".
  • Your archive will take some time to get created and you will receive an email to your registered email address when its created.
  • Go to the link in the e-mail and click on "Download Archive".

The e-mail will be valid for only a few days so watch your inbox. If you didn't download the archive backup within few days the link won't work and you will have to repeat all the steps again.
