Introduction :

Call of Duty is a 2003 first-person shooter video game developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision. The game takes place during World War II. It is based on the Quake III Team Arena engine. It also had an expansion pack called Call of Duty : United Offensive, produced by Activision and developed by Gray Matter Interactive having contributions from Pi Studios as well. It has single player as well as campaign missions. The game lets you play as three different soldiers from USA, UK And USSR. We are going to talk about the various campaigns separately. Most of the times you are working with a unit which is relevant to the World War II theme where you are fighting along with many men and not only alone. In this mission your partners (who are computer controlled) too help in fighting and completing you objectives which makes the game play more realistic. The latest version of the game till today is Call of Duty : Advanced Warfare.

Gameplay :

In Call of Duty you are an infantry soldier who uses World War II firearms. Each mission has a number of objectives to be completed before the player could go on to the next mission. Objectives are marked as stars in the compass. The player can save and load at any time which is replaced by checkpoint system in later Call of Duty games. In Call of Duty the player can carry to two primary weapons, handgun and 10 grenades but in later versions you can carry only One primary weapon. You can exchange your guns from the ones found on the battlefields. You can also fire single shot or automatic fire which is absent in the later versions. When you are hurt you loose health and you can regain health by picking up Medkits scattered on the battlefield while in later versions you regain health if you are not taking fire. It also features "shellshock" i.e. when there is an explosion nearby the player experiences sound muffling, blurred vision and is unable to sprint or move fast.

The Game differs from many single-player games of its time. It simulates the actual action and the player moves in groups rather than moving alone. You are given charge of certain objectives from the commanding officer. The gameplay features taking cover, suppressive fire and use of grenade as an important part of survival. You can also see the Computer controlled allies and enemies taking cover behind barricades, objects, walls and other obstacles.

Note : Although Windows 7/8/8.1 are not officially supported we have tried it on them and the game ran. But we can't guarantee that for you too.

Conclusion :

Call of Duty was released many years before and since then many sequels to it have been added but the original Call of Duty is still very addictive to play. The proof to this fact is that many critics have criticized this game only for it was of short length. If you leave the oldish graphics we can guarantee the you will love to play this classic. So if you have not tried it at least try it once.
