Google always updates its apps. GMAIL 5.0 is one of them. Google was saving the new GMAIL 5.0 to release it during the Final Lollipop release. New GMAIL has modernity, new improvements and more easy design. At the Google I/O conference Google said "The new Gmail is also one of the first to incorporate much of “Material” — Google’s new design methodology for Android 5.0 “Lollipop". It makes a very heavy use of designs, color and functions. This new app has completely re-invented and revived the old app and we don't get bore while mailing like in the earlier versions of the app.
Bold new design :

Because of the new material design aesthetic used in the the new GMAIL is much easy to use. It doesn't has any bumble-jumble in it . In the bold new look you will notice the awesome new red action bar that merges through the status bar. In the iOS version you will notice more white area and sleek design. You can now directly add email accounts from other devices which means a lot and is a very big step towards making GMAIL a professional mailing app. One more thing of notice is the circular icons for your contacts adding to the prestige of the new look.
New interactions :
In the older versions you will find that if you swipe mails could be deleted but in the new version you have two options either to archive it or delete it and you can set to default whatever you want to do with a swipe. The traditional Gmail app has been given material design makeover. It has an action bar with all the menu buttons and attachment/send/ and cc/bcc options. The new GMAIL app is much easier to use and access. It gives helpful suggestions while typing contact address or name. Most common apps are now directly accessible and are moved out of menus. For moving emails quickly to other folders you also have a button at top right.
In conclusion this app is ready to go and very easy use still being beautiful.
